Oxford Gardens puts computing at the heart of all of it’s learning to ensure we are preparing our children for the digital world they live in. Children have a weekly computing curriculum lesson as well as access to iPads and laptops within each classroom.
To enhance children’s learning, the school subscribes to the London Grid for Learning (LGfL), which all children have a password for. At home, children can use their password to build upon what they have done in school. There are lots of educational games children can use to practise and extend themselves. Busy things and J2E are particularly good programs to use at home to practise core learning skills. Within Busy Things, children can select different school subjects and play games related to what they have been learning in class. Within J2E, children rehearse spellings and times tables as well as practice coding and other computing skills. Here, they can also create documents, presentations that automatically save to their personal area that their teacher can see- why not try it for some home learning soon!
