At Oxford Gardens we have chosen Spanish as our primary language for delivering the MFL Curriculum.
At Oxford Gardens, we have chosen Spanish as our primary language for delivering the MFL curriculum. By the time they leave our school, we want the children to have developed a real foundation in a language that will instil a desire to learn further languages. There is a focus on speaking and listening, particularly in Years 3 and 4 and this is developed alongside reading and writing some phrases and sentences. As children progress into Year 5 and 6, they are able to read and write Spanish to a greater extent. As well as introducing children to another language, we believe it is important that children gain an awareness of the cultural differences between their own and other countries. We are very lucky to have families who speak a vast range of languages at Oxford Gardens and this adds to our children’s understanding of the importance of celebrating different cultures.
